JOB SUMMARY

The Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Comprehensive Cancer Center’s (AHWFBCCC) Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) is recruiting for a Program Manager I. Responsibilities include but are not limited to providing process support, facilitation, and program management necessary to execute strategic and operational initiatives for the AHWFBCCC’s Office of DEI, along with the DEI leadership.  Additional responsibilities include collaborating with the AHWFBCCC Administrative team, and stakeholders throughout the health system on strategic partnerships and initiatives, as well as ensuring the preparation of the Plan to Enhance Diversity (PED) component of the Cancer Center Support Grant (CCSG), in partnership with AHWFBCCC leadership. The position will have a matrixed reporting relationship to the Assistant Director of Administration and the Associate Director of DEI. Other projects for the AHWFBCCC administrative team could also be assigned. 

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree with five years' experience in DEI (e.g., programs, policies, strategies, practices) required. Master’s degree in Public Health, Health Administration, Business Administration, or related field preferred. Experience with program management, program development, or administration and familiarity with NCI CCSG and academic learning health system preferred.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Work with AHWFBCCC leadership to prepare for and attend all DEI and other relevant meetings, ensuring follow up after each meeting as appropriate.
  2. Plan and facilitate PED Council meetings, ensuring documentation and follow up after each meeting.
  3. Work with DEI leaders to ensure consistent implementation of climate/culture survey, high response rate, and facilitate appropriate follow up to address concerns captured. 
  4. Support DEI leaders in strategic planning, including review of ongoing activities, gap analysis, and identification of key opportunities.
  5. Work with DEI leaders to develop and implement ongoing and new initiatives, including communication strategies.
  6. Monitor and evaluate utilization and success of DEI resources.
  7. Develop and maintain integrated DEI website and other marketing strategies to promote member utilization of DEI resources.
  8. Actively participate in national DEI networks to inform best practices. 
  9. Partner with AHWFBCCC DEI leaders and the AHWFBCCC Director of Finance to establish budgets and manage procurements.
  10. Harmonize standard operating procedures and ensure compliance with NCI’s PED guidelines.
  11. Work with AHWFBCCC developers, DEI leaders and the AHWFBCCC Administration team to capture key PED metrics (e.g., demographics, training, recruitment/retention and career development, etc.) and on the design and execution of integrated reports/dashboards.
  12. Work with the AHWFBCCC Administration team to facilitate collection of documents and metrics as needed for the National Cancer Institute Cancer Center Support Grant and advisory meetings. 
  13. Support DEI leaders and work with AHWFBCCC Administration to ensure deliverables for the PED component of the CCSG.
  14. Liaison between AHWFBCCC’s Office of DEI and the catchment area.
  15. Professionally represent the AHWFBCCC at all times.

SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to compose and review documents for content, grammar, and style with a high attention to detail.
  • Strong PC background, including extensive knowledge of Microsoft applications (i.e., Excel and PowerPoint).
  • Analytical skills, including the ability to perform data analytics.
  • Strong critical thinking skills with an excellent ability to organize and prioritize.
  • Solid interpersonal skills to effectively build relationships with business partners across departments and campuses to facilitate work among teams.
  • Skilled problem solver who can work independently.
  • Ability to manage special projects and meet deadlines.
