Job Duties & Responsibilities

1. Production:
   1. Clean, coat, store, and assemble dies per written instruction
   2. Coat dies per specified procedure
      1. Mix coating per manufacturer’s instructions
      2. Prepare die surface for coating per specifications
      3. Clean and inspect die surfaces
      4. Apply TAGS coating evenly to specified thickness within tolerances
   3. Operate die room equipment in safe, efficient, and responsible manner
   4. Assist with die changes as required
   5. Perform routine maintenance on die room equipment
2. Quality:
   1. Precision die work and coating application is critical to the process and therefore strict adherence to the documented steps is required
   2. Keep accurate records of all die coating, pins, cups, and tags information
3. Housekeeping:
   1. Assure that all dies are cleaned as they come out of the press, paying special attention to the edges. Dies need to be clean and free of debris before assembly.
   2. Keep die room and tables/cart clean at all times.
   3. All tools and materials are to be stored in proper places in cabinets
   4. Store dies in proper order
4. Communications:
   1. Communicate effectively with management regarding issues, adjustments, and changes that have taken place.  Notify them of supply issues, maintenance needs, hazards, and accidents/injuries.
   2. Maintain complete and accurate written and/or electronic records and data.
5. Maintenance:
   1. Assist/perform die repair as requested.
   2. Perform/assist in maintenance and preventive maintenance tasks (on production lines) to minimize downtime.
   3. Assure that through rods and threads are in good repair.
6. General:
   1. Know and understand all job duties.
   2. Operate a forklift and other equipment as necessary.
   3. Abide by all company policies and procedures.
   4. Maintain required tools for use on the job.
   5. Perform all other duties assigned by management.

 

 

Safety Analysis

Safe Work Practices:  Wear hearing protection, safety glasses, and steel toe footwear at all times. Impact rated gloves are required whenever handling dies. Stay aware of the job at hand and be alert for slippery floors.  Keep work area clean and free of debris.  Long hair must be tied back above collar.  Loose clothing is not allowed on plant floor including but not limited to: Dangling Pant Legs, Neck Ties, Long or Dangling Belts, and Hooded Sweatshirts.  No metal rings allowed. Use proper lifting techniques.  Watch for forklift traffic.  Maintain three points of contact and use caution when climbing stairs and ladders.  Only use an approved low-pressure device to remove fiber and sawdust from clothing.  Lockout/Tagout all sources before working on equipment.  Avoid contact with hot steam pipes.  Comply with all safety training including but not limited to: Do not operate any equipment or tools that have missing guards or safety devices, Lockout/Tagout, Confined Space, Fall Protection, Ergonomics, Forklift, PPE, Emergency Preparedness, Hazard Communication, Electrical Safety and Blood-borne Pathogen Prevention.  Discuss all non-routine tasks with your manager prior to start.

 

This position is a tier pay position. Criteria for each pay level is:

Pay Level 1 – Learning and performing job as required

Pay Level 2 – Able to perform assigned tasks/duties efficiently and lower level positions

Pay Level 3 – Able to perform assigned tasks/duties and lower level positions, along with the      

                        ability to train associates to perform these tasks/duties

 

 

Required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Eye Protection, Hearing Protection, Gloves when handling hot dies, and Fall Protection when working at unguarded heights above six feet or when traveling and/or operating any high lift equipment.  Follow special PPE requirements for pMDI resin and resinated fiber.

• Full Face Respirator:  A full face respirator is required when airborne resinated fiber is present and when coating dies.  You must be approved for use of the respirator.
• Face shield and safety glasses are required:  When you are using or within 10 feet of any of the following:  die buffing wire wheels, power wire brush, cut off wheel, portable grinder, and as required for safe work practices when handling pMDI resin.
• White suit required when in active resinated fiber areas (will be determined as needed).
