About you and this role - What you will do in this role

In this role, you will serve as a Production (Optimization) Engineer for Dow's SRO Industrial Park (I-Park) Team located in Orange, TX.  Sabine River Operations is strategically located in the heart of the Dow Gulf Coast sites.  As a high value, large site in the Dow fleet, you will have opportunity to learn and deepen your skills across several different technologies and processes.

You will play an important role in helping the site deliver maximum value to the company through safety excellence, reliable and efficient operations, and lowest production costs. This unique role will allow you to develop both technical and leadership skills as you work across all facilities, functions, and tenants within Sabine River Operations. 

You will be focused on understanding overall site costs and partnering with teams across the site to define and execute projects to sustainably reduce those costs while maintaining EH&S excellence and high reliability.  You will lead by influence while collaborating with people of various backgrounds and experiences to achieve common goals in a fast-paced organization.

As the Optimization Engineer, you will be ready to take on the following challenges and bring value to Dow as you:

• Work closely with the multiple operations teams, leveraging their problem-solving skills and technical expertise to identify opportunities and implement improvements.
• Elevate improvement opportunities as you apply knowledge of the plant and technology using historical data in collaboration with subject matter experts (SMEs).
• Ensure Most Effective Technology (MET) is understood and utilized, and that process automation is used as a tool to optimize plant performance.
• Utilize defined MET while challenging assumptions and escalating opportunities to implement improved MET as better solutions are available.
• Partner with experts in advanced troubleshooting to improve and document operating discipline.
• Maintain, own, and review daily Key Process Indicators (KPI) and trends to ensure optimum performance.
• Respond directly to plant issues and emergencies.
• Act as a unit technical expert during unplanned events and drive implementation of effective corrective and preventative actions.
• Provide leadership, expertise, diagnosis, and optimization in plant Raw Material Efficiency, which may include yield or waste generation.
• Ensure compliance with plant operating permits. Understand site integration and provide input to optimize the overall system.
• Demonstrate your commitment to a safe work environment by working safely and, complying with environmental, health and safety standards.
• Prove your commitment to maintain ethical integrity in both successes and setbacks.

Qualifications - Required education, experience and abilities that are needed for this role (must haves)

• A minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering OR at or above a U.S. E6 ranking or Canadian Petty Officer 2nd Class (PO2/Sgt) Military ranking.
• A minimum of 6 years engineering, manufacturing, or related experience required.
• Willing and able to work during off-hours and weekends during plant turnarounds or process upsets.
• A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States.  No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.
