Production Baker I

Full-Time | Hourly (Non-Exempt) $19.00 - $20.54

 

Salt & Straw is looking for Production Bakers to support our Central Kitchen of Oregon (CKOR) production facility located in Portland’s Central Eastside. 
 
The Production Baker is an entry-level role on the Bake team and serves as the primary development pathway into more advanced baking positions within the department. The Bake team is responsible for producing inclusions and variegates used throughout Salt & Straw’s finished ice cream products. This role focuses on ingredient preparation, product handling, food safety, recipe execution, and supporting production flow by preparing inclusions to Spin-ready specifications. Production Bakers help ensure products are accurately prepared, organized, labeled, and ready to support daily production needs. 

What Salt & Straw Production Bakers Do 



Assess equipment, tools, and ingredient needs at the start of each assigned project 





Prepare inclusions for Spin production using semi-automated cutters, hand tools, or manual methods 





Support the bake process by following production schedules and recipe steps appropriate for the role 





Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace while following GMPs and food safety standards 





Troubleshoot basic ingredient, supply, or product consistency concerns while escalating issues appropriately 





Store, label, and organize sub-assemblies to support efficient Bake and Spin production flow 





Accurately complete ingredient tracking sheets, work orders, and required production documentation 





Clean equipment and tools as part of daily sanitation procedures 





Support completion of End-of-Day production checklists 





Accurately enter production completion data and quantities into NetSuite 


QualificationsThis Role Might Be Right If You: 



Have prior experience working in commercial food preparation, manufacturing, production, or warehouse environments 





Have baking experience preferred 





Have strong attention to detail and ability to follow recipes and instructions 





Have basic counting and math skills for measuring and portioning ingredients 





Are comfortable working in a fast-paced production environment 





Communicate clearly and work well within a team environment 





Are reliable, consistent, and able to follow safety, sanitation, and quality guidelines 





Show curiosity, willingness to learn, and interest in growing within the Bake department 





Are comfortable working around food allergens and within refrigerated/freezer environments 





Are comfortable standing for extended periods and performing repetitive tasks

Wage Transparency 

The anticipated hiring range for this position is $19.00 - $19.93. The broader compensation range of $19.00 - $22.08. reflects future earning growth within the role over time.
