Collins Aerospace in Fairfield, CA is seeking a Production Associate IV for our Fairfield, CA site. The Propulsion Systems business of Collins Aerospace specializes in designing, manufacturing, and testing various energetic devices. Our products include system components that ensure the safe ejection of pilots from fighter jets and helicopters. Our team creates a range of cartridge-actuated devices, propellant-actuated devices, and linear devices that support military and commercial applications with pride. 

As an employee at Collins Aerospace-Fairfield, Safety is an expectation.  Employees are expected to work safely, follow all safety rules, requirements, procedures, and instructions always.  You are expected to actively participate in the safety program and be mindful of your safety and the safety of others.  You are expected to complete all safety training in a timely manner.

The work schedule is: Monday – Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

What You Will Do

  • Lead daily operations for a high-volume production team, ensuring adherence to Safety, schedules, and quality benchmarks.

  • Comply with all rules and regulations of the company, including, but not limited to, Environmental Health and Safety, Ethics, International Trade Compliance, and Human Resources.

  • Supervise team members, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.

  • Conduct inspection to verify part accuracy against customer specifications and engineering drawings.

  • Champion Lean Manufacturing practices, including 5s, resulting in measurable workflow enhancements.

  • Collaborate with engineering to troubleshoot issues and implement process upgrades.

  • Utilize SAP for work order management and troubleshooting.

  • Safely handle energetic and hazardous materials in accordance with company protocols.

  • Meet customer deadlines and expectations.

  • Participate in audits.

  • Acquire applicable skills/knowledge/certifications as required.

  • Perform inspection of parts, coating, labeling/boxing, and general preparation for shipment.

  • Check parts for cracks, lose connections, faulty bonds, and faulty assembly.

  • Record test results in the testing log. Route products for rework or salvage of usable parts.

  • Complete End of Production (EOP) inspection and documentation.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Typically requires a HS Diploma (or equivalent, e.g. GED in the U.S.) or vocational/technical education in related discipline with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience.

  • U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, refugee, or asylee) or eligible to obtain necessary export authorizations required

  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) access.

  • Experience in supervising/mentoring a team.

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Minimum 1 year of explosive or chemical manufacturing or handling experience.

  • Two years energetic materials processing, manufacturing, and/or assembly experience.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
