About the role

Datavant is a data platform company for healthcare whose products and solutions enable organizations to move and connect data securely. Datavant has a network of networks consisting of thousands of organizations, more than 70,000 hospitals and clinics, 70% of the 100 largest health systems, and an ecosystem of 500+ real-world data partners.

By joining Datavant today, you’re stepping onto a highly collaborative, remote-first team that is passionate about creating transformative change in healthcare. We hire for three traits: we want people who are smart, nice, and get things done. We invest in our people and believe in hiring for high-potential and humble individuals who can rapidly grow their responsibilities as the company scales. Datavant is a distributed, remote-first team, and we empower Datavanters to shape their working environment in a way that suits their needs.

Datavant is fast-paced, product-driven, and focused on challenging the status quo. But cultures are defined on how they are different, not how they are the same, and we encourage you to read about the Datavant Way here.

About the Team

The Site Connect product and engineering teams at Datavant are building the technical foundations of data interchange spanning across the entire healthcare ecosystem. Site Connect is currently operational at thousands of provider sites and serving many of Datavant’s customers today. The room to grow and expand impact is massive.

About the Role

You will be part of the Connections product team, which includes dedicated product managers for EHR integrations, provider and life sciences products. This specific role will focus on health plan data needs working closely with the Payer product team to enhance data exchange between our network of healthcare providers and the insurance companies that pay for their services. As part of a collaborative team, you’ll regularly engage with other Site Connect product and engineering managers to ensure alignment and integration across different healthcare data streams, helping to unify our overall platform strategy. You will set the vision for what success looks like, determine how to use the organization’s resources to get there, and drive execution by motivating and hands-on doing.Specifically you will:

  • Set the vision by outlining the data needs of the payer product team and their customers, how we solve the problem via EHR data accessible from our provider network and how this will evolve in 3 months, 1 year, and 5 years from now.
  • Be customer centric by obsessing about solving the customer’s problem. You engage with other product teams, their customers and customer-facing teams on a daily basis and see shipping features as just one tool in your toolkit.
  • Be decisive by identifying current and future areas of ambiguity and providing direction along with reasoning and analysis. Others see you as a source of authority, reinforced by your exceptional judgment on a range of issues, including business, technical and organizational and an ability to articulate your perspective effectively.
  • Write great product requirements that provide clarity and motivation for what we need to build. You will be noted for your ability to generate workable solutions, avoid potholes, take good ideas from wherever they come, all anchored by a complete understanding of the systems your product touches and the ways in which they are used in practice. As part of the requirement development process, you know how to lead discussions and bring others along with you.
  • Drive adoption by working closely across an organization. You add value to this process by removing objections and roadblocks; you get value from this process by getting a firsthand view of how the product is received.
  • Be a leader through example and attitude.
  • Operate like an owner with a “no job is too small” attitude, doing what is needed to make your product and Datavant a success.

About You

  • You have 3+ years in a product management, product strategy or a similar role working with healthcare data ideally at a health insurance, health tech or healthcare company.
  • You’ve tackled data interoperability or integration initiatives. While coding isn’t required, experience working with data engineers is important. You’ll need to understand APIs, FHIR standards, and EHR connectivity to write product specs that translate business needs into clear technical requirements.
  • You are highly organized and have strong project management skills: others are confident in a project
