The Product Design Documentation Specialist supports Bedding Product Design Engineers by creating and maintaining accurate CAD models, drawings, and technical documentation for mattresses, foundations, and related sleep‑system components. This role ensures product documentation accurately reflects design intent and is suitable for prototyping, testing, supplier communication, and production release.
So, what will you be doing as a Product Design Documentation Specialist?
- Create, revise, and maintain 2D drawings, 3D CAD models, assemblies, and BOMs using SolidWorks or equivalent CAD tools.
- Translate engineering concepts, specifications, and construction methods into clear, manufacturable documentation.
- Support design changes by updating documentation and maintaining proper revision control.
- Collaborate closely with Product Design Engineers throughout the product development lifecycle.
- Maintain accurate records within CAD systems.
- Support prototype builds and resolves documentation issues identified during development.
- Utilize Microsoft Office tools, especially Excel, for data tracking and documentation support.

Specialist I
- Entry to intermediate level role supporting design documentation under engineering guidance.
- Focused on drawing creation, revisions, and documentation accuracy.
- Developing familiarity with bedding materials, constructions, and internal standards.
Specialist II
- Advanced contributor with strong independence and ownership of product documentation.
- Supports complex assemblies, multiple product lines, or major product refreshes.
- Acts as a documentation resource for engineers and cross‑functional partners.
- May contribute to drafting standards, templates, or process improvements.
To be successful in this role, you’ll need:
- Associate degree or Technical School education in CADD, Drafting, Engineering Technology, or related field.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks or equivalent CAD software.
- Experience interpreting product specifications and creating technical documentation.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Things we consider a plus:
- Experience in bedding, furniture, upholstery, or consumer products manufacturing or development.
- Familiarity with bedding materials (foams, fabrics, spring systems, wire forms, wood or metal frames).
- Experience with formal document control practices
