Process Specialist Machining

Bring your interest in manufacturing technologies, applied research and your experience from machining processes, and you will be part of the Manufacturing Technology Machining team. In this role, you will contribute to developing and applying knowledge within your area of competence, supporting projects and helping SKF factories evaluate and implement technologies with the right focus and speed.
You will support the development and deployment of machining technologies, contribute to applied research and technology exploration activities, and take an active role in projects within your technology area. The role combines hands-on technical contribution, structured testing and analysis, project execution, knowledge sharing and collaboration with colleagues across SKF, as well as selected external partners such as suppliers, universities and technology providers.

Key responsibilities (or What can you expect in the role?)
•    Support the development and deployment of new and existing machining technologies within SKF in your designated area of competence.
•    Contribute to applied research, technology exploration and validation activities that support process development and future technology selection.
•    Plan, perform and document tests, trials and evaluations to support technical conclusions and practical recommendations.
•    Provide input to technology strategies and roadmaps based on process knowledge, project experience, factory needs, research findings and external technology developments.
•    Participate in, and when required lead, projects and activities within machining technology area.
•    Support technology exploration and benchmarking activities by following relevant developments from suppliers, academia and industry networks.
•    Support the machine investment process to ensure implementations are aligned with SKF strategies, standards and internal quality systems.
•    Contribute to process specifications, technical documentation, templates and project deliverables within the area of competence.
•    Share best practices, lessons learned and new process knowledge within SKF technology communities.
•    Support internal trainings and contribute to knowledge transfer within the designated technology area.
•    Coach and mentor technicians within the competence area when relevant.
 

Requirements (or What are we looking for?)
•    MSc, BSc or comparable experience in engineering or manufacturing technology.
•    Relevant experience from manufacturing processes, machining as in turning, grinding, superfinishing or related process technologies.
•    Experience from applied research, experimental work, laboratory testing, process trials or technology evaluation is considered an advantage.
•    Ability to structure investigations, analyze test results and draw conclusions that support technical decisions.
•    Good understanding of manufacturing environments, process development and continuous improvement.
•    Ability to analyze manufacturing processes and identify improvements related to efficiency, quality and operational performance.
•    Basic or developing knowledge of topics such as abrasive tools, cutting fluids, process monitoring, equipment setup or part quality after processing is considered an advantage.
•    Interest in process monitoring, modelling or data-driven process development is qualifying.
•    Ability to troubleshoot technical issues and support effective solutions in collaboration with others.
•    Good communication skills and ability to engage in cross-functional teams on global SKF level.
•    Understanding of industry standards, SKF standards and compliance requirements.
•    Knowledge of EHS requirements and a strong focus on safe and sustainable working practices.
•    Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
•    Availability to travel when needed.
