What You Will Do:

Pratt & Whitney is seeking a highly motivated individual to support the manufacturing maturation of ceramic matrix composite (CMC) turbine components. CMCs are an enabling material that increases the temperature capability of jet engine components. Through successful development and application of these materials, P&W will deliver engines that are more fuel efficient, lighter weight and more durable for commercial and military applications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the development of next-generation CMC materials using melt infiltration processes, progressing from proof-of-concept to full-scale production.

  • Evaluate, design, and implement efficient manufacturing processes to improve performance and reduce waste.

  • Analyze process data to identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and areas for improvement.

  • Lead or support root cause analyses to address process deviations, material inconsistencies, or performance-related issues.

  • Develop and maintain process documentation, including standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and flow diagrams.

  • Collaborate with engineering, operations, and quality teams to troubleshoot and resolve process-related issues.

  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional manufacturing and engineering teams to define and refine process parameters that enhance product performance.

  • Lead or support continuous improvement initiatives, such as Lean or Six Sigma projects, to enhance productivity and quality.

  • Monitor process performance metrics and provide actionable recommendations for optimization.

  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, company policies, and safety regulations.

  • Support the implementation of new products or technologies by designing and validating associated processes.

  • Train and mentor team members on process best practices and methodologies.

  • Participate in cross-functional teams to support ongoing projects

  • Prepare technical reports and presentations to communicate findings

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Bachelor's degree from an ABET accredited university in engineering discipline required with 2+ years’ experience in Engineering or an advanced degree with no experience.

  • US Citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Experience with polymer, metal, or ceramic matrix composites.

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with aerospace or defense industry experience.

  • Proficient in CAD or solid modeling software.

  • Knowledge of Six Sigma, LEAN, and EHS (Environmental, Health, and Safety) requirements.

  • Familiar with aerospace quality standards, including ISO 9001 and AS9100.

  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
