• JustificationJustificationIn the SC pharmacy, I have estimated that each year (loosely calculated, based on current staff) there are 350-400 shifts of PTO available that likely require coverage. Our operating solution is currently to collapse patient care services in some places to support the main pharmacy. I would like to post this strictly on-call/PRN position to see if there are any pharmacists willing/looking to work on-call in the region and see if they are able to join the MercyOne team. This would better support regular pharmacy services and provide additional redundancy for our workgroup.

  Join the MercyOne Family! We are looking to hire a PRN Staff Pharmacist

  As a Staff Pharmacist at MercyOne, you will ensure prompt and accurate services for patients, nurses, physicians, and other staff.  Interpret and evaluate the validity and safety of orders and prescriptions.  Monitors the quality of pharmaceutical services provided.  Dispense medications in accordance with legal requirements.  Provide information to staff and clients regarding medications and drug therapy.  Maintain accurate records.  Supervise the work of supportive personnel and verifies the activities of supportive personnel. 

  • Reviews electronic/written medication orders to determine clarity, appropriate dose, schedule, possible drug interactions and contraindications. 
  • Consults directly with the physician, physician/hospice nurse or nursing home, if changes or clarification is needed.
  • Supervises preparation of patient medications using standard techniques and procedures, including all drugs, prescriptions, controlled substances, IV's and IV admixtures.
  • Successfully interacts with interdisciplinary teams, administrators, physicians, residents, resident families, nursing directors, nursing staff, as well as state and federal regulations.
  • Directs and monitors pharmacy technicians in proper packaging, labeling and distribution of medications.

  Maintains departmental medication inventory levels by checking stock and orders supplies and drugs as indicated.  Maintains perpetual inventory system.  Maintains invoices in
