Located in Colorado Springs, CO, this role is crucial in supporting the U.S. President, the Secretary of Defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and operational levels.
This position does not offer relocation assistance and requires on-site work with no remote options available.
Position Overview:
The Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program is a vital part of the Missile Defense System. It provides a critical operational platform that enables the U.S. president, the secretary of defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and tactical levels to systematically plan missile defense operations, monitor battle progress, and actively manage networked sensors and weapon systems to achieve global and regional mission objectives.
C2BMC provides a layered missile defense capability, delivering an optimized response to threats across all ranges and flight phases. It functions as a force multiplier by connecting, integrating, and synchronizing autonomous sensor and weapon systems and operations both worldwide and locally to improve overall performance. Additionally, C2BMC is an essential part of all ground and flight tests that verify and demonstrate the missile defense system's current and future capabilities.
A Systems Engineer can fill this position with experience in Software Development, or a Software Engineer with Systems Engineering training and a desire to support the Systems Engineering V for the Software Development Team. This position is for a Software Systems Engineer on the C2BMC program. The candidate will be responsible for software systems engineering products for their Scrum Team, including developing software products. They will be accountable for performing in-depth analysis and providing technical support for systems software products, including complex problem resolution, design, development, testing, operational integration, and user support. The role also involves systems engineering support for the team that maintains debugs and configures related software products.
Essential Functions:
- Perform tasks from specifications to develop or modify operating system applications
- Assists with design, coding, benchmark testing, debugging, and documentation of programs
- Collaborate with the SEIT organization to break down system requirements into manageable software-level requirements
- Works with the SEIT organization to drive system use cases, concept of operations, and sequences
- Collaborate with the SEIT organization to develop or update system external interfaces
- Authors or assistants with proposals
- Conducts software design, including software product-level use cases and sequences
- Creates and maintains software design documents, such as:
- Algorithm Design Documents
- Functional Design Documents
Basic Qualifications:
Please list your current security clearance and IAT or relevant certifications on your resume, if applicable.
- Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline or a related field from an accredited university is preferred, along with 5 years of experience; or a Master’s degree in a related field with 3 years of relevant work experience, or a PhD and 1 year of related experience.
- Ability and willingness to travel up-to 10% to support business needs
