The pay range is $163,000.00 - $294,000.00

Pay is based on several factors which vary based on position. These include labor markets and in some instances may include education, work experience and certifications. As a Principal Solution Designer, you will design the technical solutions that bring Target’s enterprise data strategy to life. You will translate the enterprise vision for a modern, cloud-native, AI-enabled data ecosystem into practical architectures and solution designs that deliver measurable business outcomes. 

Your work will ensure Target’s data platform is not only technically robust but also designed for trust, usability, and scale—empowering teams across the enterprise to access, understand, and act on data with confidence. You will partner closely with architect and engineering leaders to design solutions that modernize Target’s data foundation, simplify complexity, and accelerate innovation. 

This role is ideal for a strategic problem solver who can connect architecture to execution—bridging data strategy, technical design, and business enablement. As a bridge between architecture, engineering, product, and experience, you will connect long-term strategy to practical design. As the Principal Solution Designer, you will translate vision into end-to-end solution designs and technical roadmaps—ensuring strategy becomes reality through scalable, high-quality, and business-aligned solutions.

Solution Design and Architecture: 

• Lead end-to-end solution design for the modern, cloud-native data platform, ensuring alignment with enterprise architectural principles and technology direction - balancing speed, scalability, and cost efficiency. 

• Translate the enterprise data strategy and architectural blueprints into actionable, scalable, and secure solution designs across ingestion, storage, processing, analytics, and AI/ML activation layers. 

• Embed architectural patterns that support real-time, event-driven, and AI-augmented solutions. 

• Partner with data scientists, product, and engineering teams to power real-time, predictive, and prescriptive insights. 

Platform Modernization and Delivery: 

• Partner with engineering teams to deliver designs with excellence, reliability, and measurable business impact.
