This is the PERFECT position for a Principal level Software Engineer with a strong background in the DO-178 software certification process. The ideal candidate will join our certification team paving ground towards an efficient common certification process for avionics. This is an onsite position based in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Relocation assistance may be available. 

What You Will Do:  

• Work with the ACDE Cert team to define optimal certification strategies for Avionics. 
• Create standard certification document templates. 
• Understand and work with our Cert DevOps pipeline to help prosecute our 1 click cert strategy. 
• Work with adopters to help them migrate to our ACDE common cert approach. 
• You will optimize certification process.  
• You will mentor, train and onboard teammates.  
• You will be expected to be a self-starter, able to multitask and manage unplanned events.   
• You will use your organizational skills to manage and execute to the team’s plans and commitments. 
• You will use your effective communication skills to keep engineering peers, leadership and customers up to date.    
• You will use your problem solving, decision making, and teamwork skills to support the team mission.  

Education and Experience You Must Have: 

• Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience. 

Qualifications You Must Have:  

• Practical experience in all aspects/phases the software engineering product lifecycle to include all phases of certification.  
• Practical experience in all phases of civil aerospace certification activities (SOI1 – SOI4, TSO/PMA/TC Approval). 
• In depth understanding of DO-178C, DO-330, DO-331 and DO-332. 
• Familiarity with ARP-4754B 
• Experience leading customer certification audits 
• Strong written skills and attention to detail
