The Principal Research Engineer II serves as a SME in the research and development of energy and materials projects in support of critical requirements relative to national initiatives.
Duties/Responsibilities
• Serves as research engineer in support of projects developing thorough testing and understanding of energetic materials and chemical characterization in support of national initiatives.
• Research into new techniques for prototyping and testing of energy storage techniques.
• Integrates work into a team to understand and improve capabilities of new opportunities in chemical and structural designs.
• Ph.D. in Chemical or Materials Science Engineering with 12-15 months of full-time verifiable work experience or an equivalent combination of education and years of experience (Bachelor's or Master's degree required)
• Prior research experience in electrochemical changes, destructive and non-destructive testing, modeling and characterization.
• U.S. citizenship is required
• Capable of working within a team to accomplish fundamental theory and innovative systems design.
