About this role:
Wells Fargo is seeking a Regulatory Relations (RR) Principal Regulatory Relations Specialist in the Corporate Risk Regulatory Relations Team. The Corporate Risk RR team is responsible for leading end-to-end regulatory engagements for Corporate Risk, including, but not limited to, regulatory examinations, supervisory meetings, information requests, and responses to regulatory findings. The Principal Regulatory Relations Specialist will synthesize regulatory feedback across the enterprise and use learnings to advise senior leadership on regulatory strategy.
Experienced staff for this role may lead implementation of some strategic initiatives with moderate to high risk and complexity, generally spanning across Corporate Risk. This role will require regular interaction with regulators, key business partners; including senior leaders, operations, control, risk and functional leaders, members of governance committees and the Regulatory Relations team.
In this role, you will:
- Act as a top subject matter expert for executive and senior leadership to advise, develop, influence, and lead complex, innovative, and diverse regulatory relations activities associated with governance, communications, procedures, commitments, engagements, initiatives, and interactions which have companywide impact, high risk or with significant scope, cost, and benefits
- Lead the strategy and resolution of the most complex and significant regulatory relations challenges across multiple areas or companywide, delivering solutions and standards that are long-term, large-scale, broad-reaching, and require vision, creativity, innovation, advanced analytical and inductive thinking, and coordination of highly complex activities, ensuring appropriate accountability and interaction with regulators
- Provide vision, leadership, and industry expertise regarding large-scale companywide strategies that significantly influence the organization's business and financial operations and is highly visible to executive leadership, the board of directors, and regulators
- Strategically lead all levels of professionals and managers companywide; serve as an expert advisor to leadership; represent the company externally in industry networking and trade and technical events
- Lead projects, virtual teams, and serve as a peer mentor to ensure appropriate preparation, accountability, and consistent delivery on regulatory commitments, execution of regulatory relations policy and procedures, or other initiatives
- Represent regulatory relations, in concert with business partners, before regulatory agencies on policy matters, responses, commitments, needs, and approach in adherence to policy and procedure
- Research and assess internal and external regulatory environment to identify and report on themes, emerging trends, and risks, sharing insights with team and leadership to resolve concerns
- Work with partners to aggregate and report on regulatory actions for key stakeholders including executive leadership, the board of directors, and regulators to ensure consistency with strategy and approach
Required Qualifications:
- 10+ years of Regulatory Relations experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience managing response process for federal regulatory examinations across a broad range of regulatory subject matters, stakeholders and risk types.
- Experience with Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) or Anti-Money Laundering (AML)
- Superior verbal and written communication skills with exceptional ability to negotiate and facilitate collaboration at all levels of a highly complex and matrixed organization.
- Ability to communicate understanding across key stakeholders to drive efficient and concise execution of regulatory engagem
