The role
As a Principal Mechanical and Electrical Engineer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You’ll be there to provide technical support and engineering consultancy to all departments across the RSME sites for all aspects of mechanical and electrical engineering providing through life technical support.
Day to day, you’ll resolve engineering issues within a project or maintenance task, answer technical queries, produce technical reports, appraise mechanical and electrical proposals prior to installation and review mechanical and electrical installations once built.
- Provide technical guidance to all Babcock Stakeholders, including the Small Works, Projects, Maintenance and Compliance Teams
- Identify efficiencies and improvements in technical systems, service delivery and planning
- Review Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) schedules for technical compliance
- Assist in the production of tender documents for works packages and major projects
- Technically appraise construction drawings and attend design reviews
This is a full-time role based at either our Chatham or Minley site with the option to work from home one day per week. Travel will be required between our three sites including Bicester however, you will be compensated for your mileage or can take one of our pool vehicles.
Essential experience of the Principal Mechanical and Electrical Engineer:
- A background in mechanical and electrical services and competent to plan then oversee mechanical and electrical works
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of the Construction Design & Management (CDM) -Regulations 2015 and any further amendments
- A working knowledge of CIBSE Guide ‘M’
- Strong computer literacy in Microsoft Office packages including Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint 2019 and Project
- Detailed demonstrable knowledge of building services systems and design
Qualifications for the Principal Mechanical and Electrical Engineer:
- Educated to degree level or equivalent in a technical engineering management related discipline. The successful candidate will be supported to achieve Chartered Staus
- Membership of an accredited industry body, or working towards membership such as CIBSE, IET or equivalent and Engineering Council Accreditation as a Chartered or Incorporated Engineer. Recognised institutions include: - Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB), Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), Institute of Civil Engineers (ICE), Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) or Chartered Institute of Building Services Engineers (CISBE).
The successful candidate must be able to achieve BPSS and SC security clearance for this role.
