Job Description
Principal Industrial Engineer works on behalf of Elbit Systems of America Operations (KMC) to provide Direction and oversight for KMC production environment. The Sr. Industrial Engineer will work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment working closely with multi-disciplinary teams. They will adapt to a rapidly changing production environment with the exciting opportunity to influence the successful execution of production goals and achieving operational excellence. In this role, the industrial engineer will be responsible for manufacturing planning and integration of varied production operations, including assembly and testing processes to achieve operational excellence and to drive efficiencies. This individual will identify and streamline all aspects of manufacturing operations using classical Industrial Engineering and Lean methods, capacity modeling, simulation, and analysis to develop recommendations for manufacturing assembly and test operations, develop and implement manufacturing floor layouts, drive continuous improvements, and lead six sigma projects. Work on multiple phases or sub-tasks of projects or entire projects of high complexity, with results impacting project completion. He/she must demonstrate attention to detail, strong Lean Principles, analytical skills, documentation, processes, and excellent verbal / written communication.
- Performing capacity simulations to identify constraints in manufacturing operations, including assembly and test
- Development of modeling for capacity and process flow optimization
- Production layout with an understanding of material presentation and flow
- Value stream analysis and process improvement activities
- Materials experience with Enterprise Systems routing and backflush
- Promote the use of preferred techniques for continuous improvement such as Lean, Poka-Yoke, Measurement System Analysis, and Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA)
- Support metric development and periodic metric review
- Lead improvement teams and manage improvement activities
- Generating reports and charting performance metrics
Qualifications
Skills / Competencies:
- Experience in performing capacity simulations to identify constraints in manufacturing operations, including assembly and test
- Proficient in performing manufacturing & testing capacity analysis
- Production layout experience with a demonstrated understanding of material presentation and flow
- Fundamental knowledge of facility constraints such as space, machine capacity, and materials movement
- Human Factors, Ergonomics and Safety
- Continuous Improvement: Lean principals, 5S plus 1, Visual Factory, P/FMEA
- Experience in coordination of cross-functional team based activities, monitoring and reporting out on progress.
- Strong team player and willing to work collaboratively across the organization
- Sound interpersonal skills to successfully interface with company personnel at all levels, customers and suppliers
- Quality Systems, Standards, and Methodology
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- A Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering or related Discipline with 8+ year’s of experience.
- Proficient in the above competencies and or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, analytical, communication and presentation skills
- Innovative & Creative
- Ability to work independently and effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Lean Green / Black belt
- Problem Analysis & Solving
- MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Visio) & AutoCAD
- Medical Device Industry experience (Highly desirable)
