Microsoft’s Azure Data engineering team is leading the transformation of analytics in the world of data with products like databases, data integration, big data analytics, messaging & real-time analytics, and business intelligence. Within Azure Data, the business intelligence team builds and maintains Power BI which is the undisputed leader in BI tool in the industry today and serves as the bridge between data professionals & Office users. Power BI’s core value proposition is to enable end users to get answers & insights from their data through data visualization.

Within Power BI, the Principal Engineering Manager will lead a team of engineers building experiences for customers to find and discover the data or most useful for them. Building on top of planet-scale cloud services with Azure and Microsoft Fabric, the team will leverage the latest in LLM and generative AI technologies. By pairing these AI technologies with the massive footprint data available to them, the team will create new capabilities to both proactively recommend content and insights, but also allow users to find and discover content seamlessly. Also, deliver content and insights where ever they are through mobile, email, chat and more. Responsibilities

• Guide, coach and grow a team of 8-10 software engineers delivering across several key investments. Supporting both technical and non-technical skills development.
• Partners with stakeholders (program managers, technical leader, senior leadership), to understand both user and business requirements and drive clear communication + expectation setting
• Partner with your team & technical leaders to build out technical designs and architectures. Including designing for performance, quality, security and scalability
• Support and guide multiple agile execution teams, focused on end-to-end incremental delivery of capabilities. Utilize experimentation and service telemetry to drive data driven design and decision making
• Ensure quality engineering and service health, through instilling best practices for coding, testing, validating and operating cloud scale systems.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
  • OR equivalent experience.

• This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
