Northrop Grumman Space Systems – Launch and Missile Defense Systems has an exciting career opportunity for a Principal Engineer Systems – Network Systems Engineer III (25-010) to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Colorado Springs, CO.
Position Overview:
The Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program integrates the Missile Defense System. It is a vital operational system that enables the U.S. president, secretary of defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and operational levels to systematically plan ballistic missile defense operations, to see the battle develop collectively, and to dynamically manage designated networked sensors and weapons systems to achieve global and regional mission objectives. C2BMC supports a layered missile defense capability that enables an optimized response to threats of all ranges in all phases of flight. C2BMC is the force multiplier that globally and regionally networks integrate, synchronizing autonomous sensor and weapon systems and operations to optimize performance. C2BMC is integral to all system ground and flight tests, which verify and exercise all current and future missile defense system capabilities.
Serve as a Networks Systems Engineer (SE). The Networks SE shall act as the SE Subject Matter Expert (SME) on the NES ART and will develop and implement the Network Systems Engineering Plan and advise on all systems engineering related issues. Will act as the liaison between the Networks ART and the Systems Engineering, Integration, and Test (SEIT) Resource Managed Area (RMA) and ensure that all processes and procedures are aligned and standardized.
Essential Functions:
- Lead all network requirements activities, including identifying and managing the network requirements baseline
- Develop and maintain the Requirements Traceability Verification Matrix (RTVM) and system/sub-system requirements allocation to ensure traceability of requirements from development through deployment and manage network requirements sell-off plan
- Act as a systems engineering interface/liaison between NES ART and the C2BMC SEIT team to ensure consistent system engineering principles and practices
- Support systems engineering and architecture meetings internally, with the national team, and with the government customer
- Support the development and review of system engineering artifacts (e.g., specifications, Interface Control Documents, Use Cases, System Architecture Descriptions, Trade Studies, etc.) and author/perform formal and informal engineering reviews as required
- Responsible for developing interface documentation, diagrams, system modeling efforts, and architectural documentation
- Implement standards and patterns across the ART to support the quality and consistency of deliverables
- Responsible for establishing and maintaining the Networks Systems Engineering model
- Must have experience developing high-level design material to be incorporated into existing baselined Missile Defense System Communication Network Implementation Specification (MCNIS)
- Support proposal efforts to include the development of technical approaches to meet requirements and lead the generation of engineering estimates
- Provide mentoring to team members to develop standardization of systems engineering processes and procedures across Networks ART
- Must adhere to DOORS processes and procedures, review the content and details of technical products, and act as a technical interface to MDA working-level counterparts on an as-required basis
