Position Overview:
The Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program integrates the Missile Defense System. It serves as a crucial operational system that enables the U.S. president, secretary of defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and operational levels to plan ballistic missile defense operations systematically, visualize the evolving battle, and dynamically manage designated networked sensors and weapon systems to achieve global and regional mission objectives. C2BMC supports a layered missile defense capability that facilitates an optimized response to threats of all ranges throughout all phases of flight. C2BMC functions as a force multiplier, globally and regionally integrating and synchronizing autonomous sensor and weapon systems and operations to enhance performance. C2BMC is vital for all system ground and flight tests, which verify and exercise the capabilities of all current and future missile defense systems.
The C2BMC-G Interface Engineer will join a small team of Interface Engineers tasked with developing ICDs and IDDs. This involves establishing new interfaces between external elements, such as space and terrestrial sensors, to facilitate seamless integration. The Interface Engineer will work with leadership to address any issues and challenges that arise. They will ensure that the developed ICDs and IDDs adhere to the program's standards. The Interface Lead is expected to create various behavioral diagrams to understand and document the requirements, which will facilitate the generation of the ICDs/IDDs. The Interface Engineer will define requirements and capture them in DOORS with enough detail to provide a clear understanding for the implementation teams. Additionally, the Interface Engineer will create behavioral diagrams to grasp the requirements and functionality of the interface.
Essential Functions:
- The successful candidate must possess a minimum of 5 years of professional experience in Systems Engineering or a related field
- Must possess substantial experience in authoring ICDs and IDDs that comply with DID requirements and meet DoD standards
- Must be capable of working as part of an experienced team to develop systems engineering products and artifacts while following the program Systems Engineering Management Plan (SEMP) and other processes
- Develop and update several Interface Control Documents (ICDs) and Interface Design Documents
- Will participate in interface working group meetings with the MDA customer and representatives from the assigned external element engineering organization. Additionally, it will provide support for program integration and test-related efforts concerning the associated interface.
- Will also support other interface engineers in developing ICDs for additional BMDS elements, as well as assist with requirements engineering, use case development, and logical architecture modeling tasks as required by the SE department
- Will support spiral leadership to ensure the completion of interface artifacts and system assessment tasks needed for the assigned sensor interface
- This position will be assigned to the C2BMC-G Systems Engineering Team within SEIT
- The Interface Engineer is a Systems Engineer and may, at times, be called upon to support non-interface systems engineering activities
