What You’ll Do

The Advanced Controller Development (ACD) is part of Samsung’s Memory Business Unit, the industry's technology and volume leader in DRAM, NAND Flash.  ACD’s vision is to solve key problems of Cloud & Data center by developing the new technology for storage (SSD) controller. We are an integral part of Samsung’s strong R&D focus & lab innovation engine. We work closely with development teams to bring feature innovation to product roadmaps.

SoC architect team within ACD proposes multiple SoC level architecture candidates for emerging memory/storage solution and analyzes SoC architecture trade-off with performance model.

Location: Hybrid, working onsite at our Folsom, CA office 3 days a week, with the flexibility to work remotely the remainder of your time.

  • Work on modeling, performance analysis, and architecture definition of emerging memory and storage solution
  • Conduct detailed analyses and trade-off studies for NPU SoC architecture
  • Develop custom tools for analyzing simulation results of these complex architectures to provide new insights into their behavior and propose innovative architectural changes to improve the performance and power.
  • Propose/develop power saving algorithms to enhance power efficiency.
  • Establish strategic relationship with product planning, research, SoC designer, firmware development team to identify mass production level requirement
  • Presenting performance study results to design teams and other architecture teams.
  • Validating the performance model against the specification and correlating the model with RTL

 What You Bring

  • Bachelors in Electrical, Computer Science or related with 20+ years of experience or Masters in Electrical, Computer Science or related Science with 18+ years of Industry Experience or PhD in Electrical, Computer Science or related Science with 15+ years of Industry Experience Preferred.
  • Good knowledge and experience in architecting complex SoCs and power domain
  • Good understanding and experience in memory (HBM and DDR)
  • Self-motivated problem-solver with an ability to work well in a team
