At Pratt & Whitney, the difference you make is on display every day. Just look up. Are you ready to go beyond?

What You Will Do:

Pratt & Whitney is seeking a Propulsion Systems Analysis (PSA) Engineer for our Engine Design & Systems Integration (EDSI) Military (Mil) APU/TJ team to support expendable Turbojet (TJ) programs. This is a systems analysis position within the EDSI-Mil team and requires candidates with a technical understanding of engine systems and components. The ideal candidate will be team/customer focused, have good communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

The work would cover one, or multiple stages, of the engineering lifecycle like: requirements generation, concept, development, production, & sustainment in alignment with the RTX Lifecycle Program Management (RLPM) & Gatorworks process. This is a great opportunity for an engineer seeking to exercise their knowledge and inventiveness in arriving at robust systems solutions. This is a direct salary position starting immediately, located in West Palm Beach, FL.

  • Candidates will utilize NPSS for thermodynamic modeling of engine performance for conceptual designs, and component updates. Model output will be created and analyzed to provide design/performance table output and component enhancement recommendations.
  • Support engine validation of various small Turbojet and APU, including test planning, run program creation, and test stand support.
  • Work with EDSI-Mil Systems Design, Aero, Structures, and Project teams towards generating engine cycle solutions that support the system architecture.
  • Provide PSA support in developing conceptual, preliminary, and/or detailed component or systems design for small Turbojets (TJ’s).
  • Provide engine test planning, support, and analysis. Provide systems analysis support as needed to Small Engine Programs.
  • Interaction with internal and external customers is expected; good communication skills and assertiveness are key qualities to possess.

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) or equivalent experience and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years’ experience
  • U.S. Citizenship required due to government contracts
  • Travel less than 10%

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Familiarity with the following propulsion systems Analysis tools:
  • Numerical Propulsion System Simulation (NPSS) – modeling and analysis of engine performance
  • Unigraph – data plotting and analysis
  • ITE – test data repository
  • Experience with Matlab, or similar analysis tool, is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of jet engine systems/modules.
  • Familiarity with development engine instrumentation
  • Experience in managing internal and external customers.
