What you’ll do

Become part of an iconic brand that is set to revolutionize the electric pick-up truck & rugged SUV marketplace by achieving the following:

  • Develop and implement processes for Pretreatment and Ecoating stages in the paint shop.
  • Monitor and optimize process parameters to ensure consistent quality and efficiency.
  • Conduct regular process audits and adjust to improve performance.
  • Implement quality control measures to ensure high standards of pretreatment and electrocoating.
  • Analyze defect data, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with the quality team to ensure processes meet industry standards and customer requirements.
  • Ensure all pretreatment and electrocoating equipment is properly maintained and calibrated.
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues and coordinate with maintenance teams for repairs and upgrades.
  • Oversee the installation and commissioning of new equipment and technologies.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and lead initiatives to enhance productivity and quality.
  • Implement Lean manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies to optimize paint shop operations.
  • Stay current with industry trends and innovations in pretreatment and electrocoating technologies.
  • Develop and deliver training programs for paint shop personnel on Pretreatment and Ecoating processes and best practices.
  • Mentor and support team members to build their technical expertise and problem-solving skills.
  • Ensure all processes comply with safety regulations and environmental standards.
  • Conduct risk assessments and safety audits to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
  • Promote a culture of safety and environmental responsibility within the paint shop.

Location & Travel Expectations: The responsibilities of this role require attendance at in-person meetings and events regularly. This role will be based out of the Scout Motors location in Columbia, SC. Applicants should expect that the role will require the ability to convene with Scout colleagues in person and travel to participate in events on behalf of the company from time to time.

What you’ll bring

  • Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field. Advanced degrees or relevant certifications are a plus.
  • 5+ years hands on Pretreatment Ecoat experience in automotive manufacturing paint shop.
  • Strong knowledge of pretreatment and electrocoating processes, chemicals, and equipment.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong project management and organizational abilities.
  • Effective communication and leadership skills.
