Practice Lead, PMO (Mid-Atlantic)

The Mid-Atlantic Project Management Office (PMO) directly contributes to our customers’ success by ensuring professional services are executed. The PMO is responsible for developing and maintaining high standards to represent the broad breadth of GPS’s portfolio of offerings. This individual communicates to Executive Management on all projects within the service portfolio. The Practice Lead, PMO oversees the project management process including governance, team leadership, monitoring, prioritization, communication, and quality controls. The Practice Lead, PMO should have a proven track record of successful project delivery, an ability to improve project management practices and substantial team leadership experience.

Role and Responsibilities:

Governance:

• Manage day-to-day operations of the PMO; responsible for monitoring and maximizing key cost, schedule, and performance metrics
• Maintain the Center of Excellence and consistently review for opportunities to enhance on a periodic basis
• Ensure pre-defined project management processes and practices are followed. Drive simplification and improvement as necessary
• Seek implementation efficiencies to meet or exceed the financial expectations established during presales
• Develop, implement, and govern project management processes, dashboards, templates, policies, and metrics
• Monitor compliance with CoE policies and standards.
• Provide leadership and direction to cross-functional project teams, comprised of Engineers, Architects, Business Analysts, and project sponsors.
• Communicate with overall PMO and Practice Leadership weekly regarding status updates and strategies
• Review billing and budget milestones monthly to ensure invoicing has occurred as forecasted

Team Leadership:

• Coach and mentor project managers and share knowledge of best practices
• Grow the PMO organization structure, hire and manage project staffing requirements in line with service portfolio workload
• Provide project deliverable QA review with Project Managers to identify new potential opportunities
• Set annual performance targets for direct reports and conduct semi-annual performance reviews.
• Oversee Project Managers for the delivery of projects/programs on time, within scope and on budget.
• Meet with the Regional PMO Leads monthly to review opportunities for process enhancements

Prioritization:

• Plan the overall programs, define projects, and oversee multiple Security Consulting project teams
• Provide executive leaders with the information needed to assess and contribute to the resolution of high risk/ escalated projects
• Work with project sponsors to define project priorities, opportunities, challenges and communicate project risks and opportunities.

Required Experience:

• Proficient with managing teams and service-oriented projects within the commercial space
• Skilled at managing project deliverables and timelines
• Excellent ability with identifying opportunities within in-flight projects to deliver additional value
• Ability to identify and roadmap process improvement strategies within the organization
• Facilitates and oversees the change management lifecycle for changes that benefit the organization
• Direct responsibility for planning, organizing and the direction of the organizations project management office

Preferred Experience:

• Expert-level knowledge of project and change management, methodologies, techniques, and processes
• Budget, cost, and profitability management skills
• Knowledge of Jira, Microsoft Project, and other project management tools
• High-level of communication, interpersonal skills to cultivate and maintain relationships with external stakeholders
• Excellent judgment with proven ability to identify problems and deal with complex issues
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, particularly on challenging, complex, and difficult issues to develop solutions that address root causes.
• Ability to develop and deliver training to new Project Managers or candidates just entering the cybersecurity space
• Ability to influence without authority
• Flexible, adaptable, and resourceful when managing changing
