Role Overview
In the Digital, Operations and Strategy department in Therapeutic Development and Supply (TDS) we combine science, technology and informatics to put data at the center of every decision. We are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated colleague who shares our ambition to become a data-led organization developing breakthrough therapeutics to join us as a Principal Data Steward, Scientific/CMD Data.
The data steward is accountable for ensuring integrity, consistency, and usability of scientific data across laboratory, pilot plant, and manufacturing systems. This position combines coordination of data aggregation and curation activities with implementation of data-quality checks, in partnership with data engineering, and cross-functional teams to enable harmonized, traceable and contextualized datasets for R&D decision making, manufacturing scale-up processes and tech transfer within TDS, to help keep JJIM at the leading edge of the digital revolution.
Key Responsibilities
Define, implement and own data stewardship processes for Chemistry, Manufacturing and Control (CMC) relevant data
Coordinate data aggregation and curation activities to contextualize and improve the quality and FAIRness of our scientific data sets
Collaborate with the ontology team to maintain and evolve data dictionaries, taxonomies, controlled vocabularies and ontologies in our data catalog and ontology management system, specific to Proteins, Cell & Gene Therapy and Synthetics development
Create and enforce data standards, nomenclature and metadata requirements across lab- and manufacturing systems such as ELN, LIMS, SAP and MES
Implement automated data quality checks and manual review procedures for critical datasets (e.g., batch records and analytical results)
Translate scientific business requirements into data requirements and work with data engineers to document and operationalize them
Provide training, guidance and best practices for scientists, engineers and data users on data capture and metadata annotation. For example, guide scientists on how best to record experiment information in ELN.
Drive root-cause analysis and continuous improvement for recurring data issues
Define KPIs for data quality and stewardship effectiveness (e.g., percentage of harmonized datasets, time-to-curation, issue remediation SLA) and report progress to stakeholders
Support the introduction of automated, AI-assisted data curation tools to streamline cleaning, enrichment, and metadata generation
