About the role
- Supervise, schedule and lead QA Technicians and team members, ensuring safe food handling practices and regulatory compliance.
- Communicate with USDA team members.
- Monitor plant floor for quality and food safety issues.
- Provide training for the weekly QA meetings.
- Monitor samples submission form before packing.
- Perform QA hold releases and transactions and WH transfers.
- Help with any implementation of programs and procedures.
- Create, maintain and verify maintain paperwork of all production and quality paperwork.
- Order supplies as needed.
- Oversee hold releases.
- Communicate when product is out of specification with the management team and techs.
- Assist in preparation and execution of customer, corporate, and third party audits
- Ensure compliance with regulatory programs
- Perform document reviews, ensuring completion and accuracy
- All other relevant duties as required
- High School Diploma or GED required, preferably Bachelor degree in Food, Animal, Poultry Science or other closely related field
- Previous QA and food manufacturing experience
- Previous supervisory experience in manufacturing environment, preferably in poultry or meat processing
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills preferred
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficient computer and analytical skills
- Detail oriented
Physical Requirements
- Typical office environment within a manufacturing plant utilizing computers, telephones and other office equipment.
- Frequently sit for long periods.
- Occasionally lift up to 25 lbs.
- May be exposed to noise (>85 decibels), CO2, and moving production lines.
- May be exposed to damp, wet, and cold environments.
- Work around live and/or raw animal odors.
