Job Description:

The Rivera group in the Louisiana State University Department of Chemistry is seeking a Postdoctoral Researcher.

Job Duties

• 60% Carry out research aimed at understanding iron metabolism in the opportunistic pathogens Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Acinetobacter baumannii. Carry out research aimed at discovering small molecules for perturbing iron metabolism in bacteria and for interfering with the bacterial biofilm lifestyle

• 10% Data collection and analysis on new project aimed at screening for molecules that can kill pathogens klebsiella pneumonie and enterobacter species.

• 10% Assist with manuscript, report, and proposal writing, and assist with the supervision of graduate and undergraduate students

Minimum Qualifications

• PhD in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Microbiology or related field

• Minimum 1 year of related experience

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with bacterial biofilms

• Minimum 2 years of related experience
