General Notes
PhD must have been received within the past 3 years. This is a temporary training position that can be renewed annually, for a maximum of five years, based upon performance review, progress towards research goals, and continuation of funding.

Purpose
This position is for a full-time enthusiastic and highly motivated researcher who will drive and manage their own research project.
Responsibilities
Carry out independent cutting-edge research on projects related to Salmonella pathogenesis, antibacterial competition, host-cell infection and microbiome, including the development of new tools and assays required for achieving defined research goals.
Assist with the communication and presentation of scientific data for the purposes of publication, grant applications and reporting and dissemination to the scientific community.
Assist with the training of other laboratory members on laboratory techniques, as well as data collection and management .
Ensure the validity and reliability of data at all times and maintain accurate and complete records of all findings. Assist with collaborative projects that are related to the main.
Required Qualifications
PhD in molecular biology, biochemistry, microbiology, or closely related field. The PhD degree must have been received within the past three years. A strong background in microbiology or molecular biology. Expertise with statistical data analysis. Experience of working in a fast and multi-disciplinary environment. A strong publication record.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with bioinformatics, large datasets and coding (R and/or Python) and/or microbiome analysis and/or infection and cellular biology and/or protein purification and biochemistry.
Salary Range
$56,484 + depending on qualifications

The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
