Job Description
The Portfolio Data Analyst, Strategy and Portfolio Management, is an exciting opportunity for a talented individual looking to flex their analytical prowess and gain experience in business strategy and process management. As an integral member of the Strategy and Portfolio Management team, the Data Analyst will assist in the development of critical business analytical tools, support portfolio management processes, and implement communication modalities. The qualified candidate will be responsible for developing and managing strategic planning tools (i.e. scenario tools, dashboards, portfolio reports, etc.) to enable portfolio visualization and strategic business planning. He/she will collaborate globally and cross-functionally to develop new analytical methods, tools, and data visualizations.
This individual will work closely with the Program Management Office, Division and Technical Finance, Manufacturing and Supply Chain, and the various Business Units to gather the right inputs to perform the analytics. They will perform analyses and provide tactical support on a broad range of projects of strategic importance to Olympus. A key part of this role will involve supporting the usage, evolution, and maintenance of the Project and Portfolio Management (PPM) and strategic planning tools.
Job Duties
- Responsible for analyses, compilation, verification of data integrity, development, and delivery of reports critical to the efficient management of Olympus’ portfolio.
- Develop visual representations of gathered complex data/relationships to convey key information succinctly and unambiguously. Ensure that the methodology and assumptions used to develop the output are clearly documented, accurate and repeatable.
- Develop and maintain standard tools, templates, and instructions for Portfolio Management Review (PMR) and Strategic Business Planning (SBP).
- Drive continuous improvement by gathering feedback and proposing/implementing solutions for enhancements to PMR, PPM, and SBP
- Create, consolidate, and distribute key analyses and presentations.
- Contribute to the creation and refinement of impactful and compelling presentations summarizing the findings and recommendations of multiple workstreams.
- Coordinate PMR and SBP meetings, minutes/actions, and deliverables.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
Job Qualification
Required:
- Undergraduate degree in Engineering, Finance, Business, Economics, Marketing, or quantitative field.
- Minimum of 1-4 years’ experience in analytics, corporate strategy, or related field preferred.
- Medical device or management consulting experience a plus.
Preferred:
- Excellent analytical and complex problem-solving skills with proven expertise in creating reports and tools to analyze and evaluate data.
- Excellent attention to detail to support monitoring the integrity of data at the detail and the summary level.
- Ability to retrieve, manipulate and analyze data from various sources to draw relevant and actionable conclusions.
- Ability to build valuations and interpret financial statements and market data.
- Ability to synthesize information from multiple data sources, handle multiple projects simultaneously with minimal direction.
- Experience in developing presentations and communicating data analysis and results to assist decision-making.
- Advanced/expert knowledge of MS Office software applications, specifically Excel and PPT; Power BI experience is a plus.
- Self-starter with a sense of ownership and passion to learn.
- Ability to multi-task while ensuring careful attention to detail to deliver high quality work.
