About the Role:

We are looking for a front-line Software Engineering Manager to join our high impact team. You will mentor and lead a globally distributed team of 6-8 experienced engineers who are responsible for building and operating the Billing platform. This role requires coordination with Engineering and Product Management teams and is an excellent opportunity to work in a collaborative cross-team setting. With the team and your peers, you will iterate and grow our team's and our organization's processes and software.

What You Will Be Doing:

• Recruit and develop exceptionally talented engineers across the globe to build a diverse team.
• Partner with Technical Leaders, Product Managers, and peer engineering teams to develop the critical SaaS billing platform.
• Be a "player/mentor" for the team, getting involved in discussions about software development methodologies and design where required.
• Build roadmaps and lead prioritization; balance the right amount of structure and planning for a fast-paced engineering team.
• Establish effective project communication plans and ensure their execution.
• Foster a culture of mutual respect and collaborative decision-making.
• Improve engineering standards, tooling, and processes.

What You Bring Along:

• Experience leading diverse teams of software engineers as a line manager (people manager).
• You care deeply about the resiliency of the services and quality of the features your team ships.
• Solid understanding of data architectures and data infrastructure ecosystem.
• An ability to communicate well with individuals and groups to accomplish a common set of goals.
• Knowledge of computer science fundamentals to understand the engineering work that is going on in your team.

Bonus Points:

• Experience working on Cloud billing/Subscription billing platforms.
• Familiarity of services from any of Azure, GCP or AWS.
• Experience as a hands-on software engineer.
• Curiosity about SaaS business metrics like growth, churn and retention.

 

Compensation for this role is in the form of base salary.  This role does not have a variable compensation component.  

The typical starting salary range for new hires in this role is listed below.  In select locations (including Seattle WA, Los Angeles CA, the San Francisco Bay Area CA, and the New York City Metro Area), an alternate range may apply as specified below. 

These ranges represent the lowest to highest salary we reasonably and in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting.  We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the ranges may be modified in the future.  

An employee's position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs.

Therefore, in addition to cash compensation, this role is currently eligible to participate in Elastic's stock program.  Our total rewards package also includes a company-matched 401k with dollar-for-dollar matching up to 6% of eligible earnings, along with a range of other benefits offered with a holistic emphasis on employee well-being.
