OBJECTIVE (broad function, scope and purpose for the position)

The Plate Heat Exchanger (PHE) Repair Mechanic Team Leader will act as the go-to resource for all PHE inspections, supply scope, repair processes, and documentation. Working directly with the Repair Coordinators and Management on all PHE production needs. 

           

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF POSITION (outline job duties and responsibilities):

  • Perform a variety of duties to disassemble, inspect, measure and assemble products and subassemblies to bring them up to specification standards. 
  • Work from drawings, parts list, blueprints, charts, tables and graphs to evaluate and estimate repair cost, time and materials or parts needed to repair assemblies and subassemblies. 
  • Must be able to setup, assemble and test equipment. 
  • Will be required to uncrate, clean, strip and tear down units.
  • Diagnoses, checks and corrects mechanical functions through adjustments, using various tools and approved repair methods.
  • Assist in workflow process, oversee utilization of jobs to ensure time is allocated correctly using ALSO scanning, WIP, assures repairs are completed correctly and on time 
  • Receive, organize, and track all related incoming job parts, coordinate and allocate items to repair jobs
  • Receive incoming repair orders and prepare equipment to be sent to out to applicable vendors
  • Assures team members complete JOT inspection forms and quality check lists accurately and completely
  • Uploads all job photos into the order and JOT file, saving them in the applicable job folder
  • Assists management as needed with accurate upkeep of PHE Capacity Graph
  • Maintains shop equipment as needed (evaporator cleaning, dye pen filter changes, etc.)
  • Participate, lead and/or assist in On-The-Job training for self and others as directed
  • Positive participant and leader of ALPS meetings and improvement initiatives
  • Driver for 5S improvements
  • Drives team members to achieve KPI's as directed by management
  • Performs other duties as directed by Management

ORGANIZATIONAL COMPONENTS (level of functional responsibility, relationships, level of direction received, and ability to initiate work):

The PHE Team Leader reports to the Service Center Manager or Supervisor.  Must work unsupervised performing job responsibilities as instructed. Works effectively as a leader in a strong team environment; continually seeks ways to improve repair processes and techniques. Coordinates and supports the daily work of the team, acts as a link between the team, support functions and management, and must be able to interact in a professional manner with management, administrative staff and team members.

KEY COMPETENCIES NEEDED

  • Good mechanical aptitude with understanding of machine assembly and disassembly
  • Positive team player and motivating leader
  • Self-starter with the ability to work in a team environment

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION DESIRED

Education (degree or years) and/or Certification/Registration:
HS diploma or GED equivalent required

Type and Length of Experience:
3+ years’ experience in a similar role

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Attributes Desired in Candidate:

Ability to read and work from blueprints Ability to function optimally in a team environment, and be a team player Ability to operate hand tools, measuring instruments, gages, fork trucks, and overhead cranes Good hand eye coordination Ability to give and follow directions, with strong attention to detail Read, write and effectively communicate in English
