Pharmacy Tech Supervisor Full Time Days Position Summary

The individual in this position will supervise all Pharmacy technician staff, under the supervision of the licensed pharmacist. 

Position duties include the following activities:

• oversee Pharmacy technician preparation, packaging, delivering and charging of medication orders ensure efficient technician workflow and

optimal automation operations

• maintain adequate medication stock levels and proper storage of medications

• assist in formulation, revision, and enforcement of department policies and procedures

• assure compliance with Pharmacy quality assurance and performance improvement processes

• interview, hire, train and evaluate Pharmacy technicians

• assure compliance with state and federal regulatory requirements, Joint Commission standards and Tenet and hospital policies and procedures

• assist pharmacists and Supervisors in performing various duties as assigned

• serve as a resource for pharmacy drug distribution functions and troubleshooting

SPECIAL SKILLS: Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with occasional periods of above average pressure. Must have basic computer skills. Excellent customer service skills. Must be willing to work in all areas of the pharmacy services as assigned. Effective interpersonal skills and ability to work with team members required. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with occasional periods of above average pressure.

THE PHARMACY TECH SUPEVISOR FULL TIME DAYS CANDIDATE WILL POSSESS THE FOLLOWING EDUCATION, LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS, AND EXPERIENCE.

MINIMUM EDUCATION: High School Diploma or equivalent GED.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: Two (2) years hospital pharmacy experience, IV experience.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: Chemotherapy experience, previous supervisory experience, good organizational skills, verbal and written communication skills, and basic computer skills required.

REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE: Licensed in the State of Arizona as a Pharmacy Technician, Pharmacy Technician certification.

Accurately prepares, packages, and labels medications. Ensure timely delivery of medications and assures adherence to delivery schedule. Serve as automation technician supervisor including ADCs, packagers, barcode printers, and scanners. Ensure completion of all assignments and delegate appropriately. Assure completion of department charge reconciliation processes and notify Supervisor of any variances. Ensure adequate supplies of medications. Ensure compliance with quality assurance logs with proper documentation.

Education:

Required: High school graduate or equivalent
Preferred: Bachelor's degree

Experience:

Required: 3 years hospital experience

Certifications:

Required: Registered Pharmacy Technician license. Pharmacy Technician certification (both based on state requirements)

Physical Demands:

Lift/position up to 50 lbs. Push/pull up to 50 lbs. of force. Frequent standing and walking. Frequent reaching, stooping, and bending. Manual dexterity, mobility, touch, auditory to perform all the related duties of the position
