Reports To: Director of Clinical Operations

Position Location/Department: Pharmacy

Job Summary:  Sheridan Hospital is a critical access hospital serving our rural community with compassionate, high-quality care. Our team is dedicated to improving the health and well-being of our patients, many who rely on us as their only local healthcare resource. We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Pharmacy Manager to oversee our pharmacy department and ensure safe, effective, and patient centered medication management. The Pharmacy Manager will lead and manage all pharmacy operations, including inpatient and outpatient services, staff supervision, medication safety, regulatory compliance, and collaboration with the medical team. This role combines leadership, clinical expertise, and a hands-on approach to serving patients in a rural setting where pharmacists play a vital role in direct patient care. It is also imperative that the manager of the pharmacy maintains compliance with all agencies that regulate the use of drugs and their preparation and distribution

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily operations of the hospital pharmacy, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Manage and mentor pharmacy staff, including scheduling, performance evaluation, and professional development.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other providers to optimize medication therapy and improve patient outcomes.
  • Maintain inventory, manage budget, and implement cost-effective medication use strategies.
  • Ensure adherence to quality and safety standards, including medication reconciliation and antimicrobial stewardship.
  • Participate in hospital committees and contribute to policy development related to pharmacy services.
  • Provide direct patient care in areas such as discharge counselling and medication education.
  • 340B program oversight and management.

Interdepartmental Functions:

  • Active participation in hospital committees and task forces.
  • Active participation in quality management issues.  Submits reports and data as requested by the Quality Management Council.
  • Demonstrates the ability to use channels of communication to address concerns, problems, and conflicts with other departments.

Qualifications

Education, Experience and Other Requirements:

  • Doctor of Pharmacy or Bachelor of Pharmacy degree required.
  • Active pharmacist license in Michigan
  • Minimum 3-5 years of hospital pharmacy experience.
  • Strong knowledge of hospital pharmacy operations, regulatory requirements, and clinical practices. Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  • Commitment to serving rural populations and improving access to care.
