• Experience with public speaking and providing mental health education or training preferred. Essential Duties/Responsibilities: • Provide short-term individual, couple or group counseling to a diverse student body using empirically based treatment methods and accepted standard of practice within one's professional discipline.
• Create, coordinate and present various relevant educational and training programs for students, staff and faculty, including University-wide programs and residential life staff training.
• Demonstrates an understanding of diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging, especially in working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and community members.
• Support, promote, and develop university student enrollment and retention initiatives.
• Maintain a high quality of care coordination for clients, including adequate referrals for evaluation or treatment, communicating with involved treatment providers, supporting family members when appropriate, tracking students of concern, while maintaining appropriate and timely confidential client records in an electronic record system.
• Engage in regular weekly individual and group clinical supervision and consultation.
• This position reports directly to their assigned clinical supervisor.
• Responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of designated protected information and performing duties in compliance with applicable policies, procedures, legal mandates and code of ethics.
• Responsible for upholding and promoting the mission and core values of Ferns State University as well as the mission of the Division of Student Affairs and the Personal Counseling Center.
• Any other duties assigned within the position classification area. Marginal Duties/Responsibilities: • Provides support staff functions and coverage in the absence of support staff with the other counselors. Skills and Abilities: • Must be able to work in a team-oriented atmosphere as a partner within the department as well as the campus community.
• Demonstrated commitment, experience, and understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
• Must be comfortable with computer software applications, such as; Microsoft Office Suite, and navigating an electronic medical records system.
• Must have excellent communication skills, both oral and written. Required Documents:

FLSA: Non-Exempt Temporary/Continuing: Temporary Part-Time/Full-Time: Part-Time Union Group: N/A Term of Position: 9 Month At Will/Just Cause: At Will Summary of Position: Provide individual, couple, and group short-term mental health counseling, crisis intervention, and outreach, education and campus programs for Ferris State University (FSU) students as part of a required graduate internship. Interns will be provided with compensation to assist with the costs of their internship at $13 per hour for up to 600 hours. Position Type: Staff Required Education: • Applicants must have completed a bachelor's degree and must currently be enrolled in a graduate level program (psychology, social work, professional counseling, or other related field).• Applicants must be enrolled in their program's internship course throughout the duration of their internship.
