Position Summary

The Quality Assurance Project Manager works in collaboration with the Senior Director of Quality Assurance to align quality assurance goals with business unit and corporate strategic quality assurance goals. This position is responsible for implementing and managing the enterprise’s Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Human Performance Error (HPE) programs, including deployment and training of RCA analytical and problem solving methodologies/techniques that will enhance organizational efficiency and support a culture of continuous improvement, safety and customer satisfaction.

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Manages and improves the enterprise’s Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Human Performance Error (HPE) programs.
  • Leads and facilitates Corporate Root Cause Analyses, Human Performance Errors (HPEs) and After-Action Reviews (AARs) and utilizes process improvement methodologies/techniques (e.g., TapRoot, Lean Six Sigma, DMAIC) to drive meaningful safety and business improvements. 
  • Serve as a technical leader and Subject Matter Expert in the deployment & application of RCA and HPE process improvement methodologies/techniques (e.g., TapRoot, Lean Six Sigma, DMAIC and other problem-solving techniques).
  • Provides oversight and review of Corporate Root Cause Analysis, Human Performance Error and After-Action Reviews processes.
  • Identifies barriers and works with business unit leaders when needed to ensure RCAs and HPEs are kept on schedule.
  • Present project progress and related recommendations to organizational leaders as needed. 
  • Works collaboratively with Enterprise Risk Management Services, Business Planning, Compliance functions, Audit Services, and other business units to identify critical synergies, mutually beneficial information-sharing opportunities, and integrated consolidated reporting.  
  • Build, coach, and promote leaders throughout the organization to commit to process improvement methodologies through a focus on effective Root Cause analyses and Human Performance Errors reviews and related trainings.  
  • Responsible for teaching others process improvement templates, tools & techniques, as part of formalized training to effectively perform process improvements within their respective business units.  
  • Leads, coaches, and develops the next generation of Root Cause Analyses practitioners.
  • Prepares detailed plans and teaches others so that they can track project performance and assure timely completion and achievement of quality and savings goals.
  • Performs other duties, as assigned.

Minimum Skills

Minimum Knowledge and Abilities

Demonstrated knowledge of TapRoot, Lean Six Sigma, DMAIC or similar RCA related process improvement methodologies.Understanding of theory and methodologies for Six Sigma, LEAN tools, DMAIC and other process improvement methodologies.Demonstrated project management experience with sustained results.Demonstrated success leading cross-functional teams in significant efforts.Experience leading large, cross-functional teams to quickly deliver high business impact.Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and as part of a multi-functional team in a fast-paced environment.Demonstrated capability with effectively communicating complex ideas and analysis verbally, in document format (like MS Word), and in presentation format (like MS PowerPoint) at the executive level.Operate in a manner consistent with CPS Energy’s Behavioral Principles.Ability to obtain a valid Texas driver’s license and maintain a safe driving record in accordance with CPS Energy policies, procedures, safety standards and applicable laws and regulations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Engineering or other related field.
  • Green Belt or Black Belt certification or advanced Lean Six Sigma and RCA training.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification.
  • American Society for Quality (ASQ) or similar process improvement certifications.
  • Prior experience as Technical Trainer
  • Prior experience as an internal or external Auditor
