PEOPLE & CULTURE
Rocket Lab’s People & Culture team is responsible for looking after our most valuable asset: our people. Across our global teams, the People & Culture team supports our people and departments across recruitment, new staff orientation, compensation, learning and development. They make sure our growing and diverse global team is supported and capable of delivering our projects and customer’s missions, and they’re responsible for supporting their development, nurturing their skills and talent, and retaining the world-class people already on our team.
PEOPLE AND CULTURE ASSISTANT (TEMPORARY)
Based onsite at Rocket Lab's Albuquerque, NM Facility, the People and Culture Assistant will provide comprehensive support in various HR functions including training, celebrations, events, administrative work, executive calendar management, onboarding, mail management, confidential information management, and other HR and administrative tasks as needed. This role is critical in ensuring the smooth, efficient, and service-oriented operation of the People & Culture department initiatives.
WHAT YOU’LL GET TO DO:
- Perform employment verification, background checks including pre-hire questions, making sure all items are clearly checked, I-9 Verification – as back-up for business partner and organizing new hire merchandise
- Prep new hire paperwork and providing assistance with new employee orientation by scanning documents and preparing the electronic personnel files.
- Prep termination paperwork and maintain Active/Termed employee’s data
- Planning Events.
- Handling employee requests that may come in: In person, through email, or Teams.
- Handling confidential information
- Using office software for word processing, spreadsheets, and creating or updating presentations, under the supervision of manager.
- Managing calendars and scheduling meetings and appointments, as requested by manager.
- Taking notes and minutes in meetings, as needed.
- Ordering office supplies and snacks
- Getting mail and managing incoming/outgoing mail, preparing FedEx, etc.
- Other administrative duties, as assigned.
YOU’LL BRING THESE QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma/GED
- Computer experience with programs such as Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
THESE QUALIFICATIONS WOULD BE NICE TO HAVE:
- College degree
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Detail-oriented.
- Ability to research (HR laws and regulations).
- Professional writing skills.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus.
- Regularly required to sit, use hands and fingers, operate computer keyboard and controls, and communicate verbally and in writing.
- Must be physically able to commute to buildings
- Occasional exposure to dust, fumes and moderate levels of noise.
