About the role
NorthStar Memorial Group is seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to join our team. The Payroll Specialist will be responsible for processing bi-weekly and weekly payrolls, ensuring accuracy and compliance with state and federal regulations.
Responsibilities
- Process bi-weekly and weekly payrolls for hourly, salaried, and commission employees across multiple states.
- Review and update payroll-related deductions and changes.
- Enter employee information into the payroll system, including pay class, time off policies, allowances, and direct deposit details.
- Update city, state, and federal withholdings.
- Maintain payroll reports for reconciliations and assist with resolving payroll variances.
- Address payroll-related questions and issues from employees.
- Perform maintenance and resolve issues related to Bonus Plus.
- Submit liens and wage garnishments to ADP and research related issues.
- Serve as backup for monthly union dues and pension reporting.
- Stay current with applicable state and federal wage and hour laws.
- Ensure confidentiality of employee pay records.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the manager.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Payroll Specialist or similar role.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Intermediate proficiency in Excel.
- 2+ years of experience in accounting or bookkeeping, with at least six months of payroll processing experience.
