Position Overview

Huntleigh USA is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Payroll Processor / Junior Accountant to join our corporate Finance team. This individual will be responsible for managing accurate and timely payroll processing for a multi-state workforce while providing accounting and compliance support. The role offers exposure to both payroll administration and general ledger accounting, making it an excellent opportunity for a payroll professional looking to expand into broader finance responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer and ensure accurate, timely bi-weekly payroll processing for more than 2,200 multi-state employees, including wage garnishments, benefits, and tax withholdings, in compliance with federal and state regulations.

  • Prepare and submit all payroll-related biweekly, monthly, and quarterly tax filings.

  • Track, process, and maintain compliance for wage garnishment orders.

  • Respond to and resolve payroll-related inquiries from managers and employees in a timely and professional manner.

  • Maintain organized and compliant payroll records in both electronic and physical formats.

  • Ensure adherence to SOX compliance standards, internal controls, and company policies.

  • Assist with general ledger account reconciliations and financial reporting as assigned.

  • Provide support to the Controller and CFO on special projects and other finance-related duties.

Qualifications

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, V-lookups, and formulas.

  • Knowledge of accounting principles (GAAP) or ability to quickly learn and apply them.

  • Prior experience with Paycom or similar payroll/ERP systems preferred.

  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills.

  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a customer-service orientation.

  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with colleagues across all levels of the organization.

Education & Experience

  • 3+ years of payroll processing experience preferred.

  • Exposure to general accounting and finance functions is a plus.
