PATIENT EDUCATOR RN - OB EDUCATION

Salary Range: $50.0900 - $77.0300 /hour. Actual compensation may vary based on geographic location, work experience, skill level, and education.

The Patient Educator (RN) provides individualized nursing education to patients and families using an evidenced-based, multi-disciplinary approach.

• This role ensures the patient has the knowledge to care for his/her condition and is educated and empowered to participate in the plan of care.
• Serves as a liaison among clinical service staff, physicians, education departments, and patients.
• Provides health assessments, plans and reassesses as well as makes appropriate referrals for outside services/continued care.
• Participates in data collection and analysis of clinical outcomes.
• Assists with education of clinical professionals. Keeps current in best practices by attending conferences, educational programs and continuing education classes.
• Functions both in inpatient and outpatient environments.
• May develop education programs and facilitate educational classes.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

 Education and Experience

Required : 

• 2 or more years of clinical nursing experience.

Additional requirements for specific departments are as follows:

• OB Education:  Childbirth Educator experience preferred.

 Certifications Required

• BLS 

Additional requirements for specific departments are as follows:

• OB Education: For RNs providing Lactation Support: Internationally Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) required within one year of hire.
