Responsibilities

Responsible for the assignment of all duties and tasks performed by the Pathology Laboratory Technical Assistant. Assists in handling laboratory data collection systems and equipment to ensure proper ordering, cancellations and charges for all accounts, research projects, act or assist as a liaison with Risk Management.

Qualifications

REQUIRED:1. High school diploma or equivalent, PLUS a. Two (2) years experience in specimen collections, specimen processing and specimen requisitioning for a clinical laboratory or health care delivery system OR b. Hold at least a two (2) year degree in chemical, physical, or biological science or a health related specialty. 2. Ability to work both independently and as a part of a team. 3. Ability to understand and apply accurate procedures in specimen handling and clerical processing. 4. Ability to communicate effectively, and possess good written and oral communication skills. 5. Strong working knowledge of Pathology related computer systems. 6. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. 7. Ability to do deductive reasoning and problem solving or troubleshooting issues related to PLTA duties. PREFERRED:1. 2 years of Laboratory or Hospital experience in a Histology Laboratory.

Mon - Fri: 7am - 3:30pm
