JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Department is searching for a part-time research assistant to work with Dr. Gregory Broussard to conduct experiments on vibriophage.  This work is connected with the Course-based Undergraduate Research Experience (CURE) courses BMB 205S, BMB 210, and BMB 294 and will be essential to conducting final experiments to publish the research done in these courses and fulfill our teaching mission in the CURE courses.  Experience working with strains of Vibrio harveyi and the bacteriophage that infect this bacteria are required.  Duties will include growing and maintaining bacterial cultures; purifying bacteriophage and making high-titer stocks; designing and conducting experiments; and writing scientific articles based on performed experiments for publication.  Pay is $10.00 per hour for 100 hours total work.
