JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Penn State Hazleton Practical Nursing Program is seeking a part time Practical Nursing Academic Coach for the 2025-2026 academic year.

 

Job duties to include:

• Teach effective study strategies, time management, organization, self-advocacy, and test-taking skills.

• Assist students in identifying strengths, weaknesses, and setting realistic academic and career goals.

• Provide proactive support by reaching out to students, monitor academic progress, and intervene when issues arise.

• Address personal barriers to success, fostering self-efficacy and a growth mindset.

• Additional duties may include teaching first-year seminars, leading workshops, or training peer mentors.

Requirements, qualifications, and/or competencies:

• Candidates must have an active Pennsylvania Nursing license.

• MSN Preferred, BSN required.

• Applicants should have experience in Acute Care Medical Surgical, Long-term care, or Community Health Nursing.

• Nurse educator experience is recommended but not required.

• Knowledge of educational best practices and student development.
