POSITION:

Part Time Lead Associate – Ecommerce

FLSA STATUS:

Non-Exempt

WORK SCHEDULE:

Mon-Sat, hours vary, less than 28 hours per week

REPORTS TO:

E-Commerce Manager

Objective

Oversees daily e-commerce operations and manages product content for the KU Bookstore website. Serves as the primary contact for publishing new products, managing categories, and ensuring the aesthetics and accuracy of the site. Supports order fulfillment, customer service, and training of part-time staff to provide an exceptional online shopping experience. Maintains online product catalogs, acquires and audits product photography, writes product descriptions, and ensures timely posting, updating, and removal of items. Provides customer service via phone, email, and online chat. Guides part-time staff through training, daily task assignment, and performance monitoring.

Essential Functions

  • Manage product content for the KU Bookstore website, including acquiring photographs, writing descriptions, posting new items, updating existing listings, and removing discontinued products.
  • Routinely audit product images, descriptions, and categories to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and brand consistency.
  • Oversee the operational workflow of all e-commerce sales, ensuring timely picking, packing, processing, and shipping of orders.
  • Provide customer service via phone, email, and online chat, ensuring prompt and professional resolutions; handle escalated concerns in the absence of the E-Commerce Manager.
  • Assist in the training and task delegation for part-time E-Commerce Associates, supporting both daily operations and store-wide events.
  • Monitor the website for broken links, outdated content, or navigation issues, coordinating necessary fixes.
  • Coordinate safe and efficient use of equipment and supplies, notifying the E-Commerce Manager of supply needs or trends in product damage.
  • Provide flexible coverage for staffing needs, with minimal evening and weekend hours; some weekends required during peak traffic periods and special events.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Customer service experience.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and coordinate multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with MS Office, web browsers, and e-commerce platforms.
  • Ability to perform moderately heavy lifting.
  • Problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.

Preferred Qualifications (Optional)

  • Current KU student status preferred.
  • Two or more years of retail experience in a lead or supervisory role.
  • Knowledge of shipping/logistics and e-commerce operations at a leadership level.
