About the role

Lake Forest High School is seeking a Part-Time Alumni Coordinator (0.5 FTE). 

Description: 

The Alumni Coordinator leads the strategic development and implementation of alumni engagement initiatives, exercising independent judgment in program design, outreach strategies, and alignment with district priorities. This role serves as a key connector and advisor, overseeing alumni communications, managing a comprehensive database, analyzing engagement data to inform decisions, and planning high-impact events with discretion over resources and vendor selection. In collaboration with school leadership and the Educational Foundation, the Coordinator advances philanthropic efforts, supports student-alumni connections, and recommends strategies that strengthen relationships and support broader organizational goals.
 
Salary and Benefits: 

  • $25,000.00 - $30,000.00
  • Retirement - IMRF (Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund)

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience: 2+ years of experience in community outreach, event planning, or volunteer management.
  • Additional Assets: Familiarity with the Illinois public school system and status as an LFHS Alum are considered significant assets.
  • Technical Proficiency: Ability to use Google Workspace, Smpre, and Canva digital tools.
  • Communication: Exceptional writing and public speaking skills; ability to engage with diverse age groups from recent grads to "Golden" alumni.


Essential Functions:

  • Database Management: Establish, promote, and maintain an accurate, comprehensive database of alumni records (contact info, career paths, and engagement history).
  • Project Management: Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, from conceptualization through completion, using organized workflows and digital tracking tools.
  • Communications: Manage alumni-specific communication channels, including a quarterly newsletter, dedicated social media pages (LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram), and the alumni section of the school website.
  • Event Planning: Lead the planning and execution of homecoming activities, milestone reunions, "Alumni Day" events, and Hall of Fame induction ceremonies.
  • Student Engagement: Facilitate "Alumni-in-the-Classroom" programs, pairing graduates with current students for career panels, mentorship, and job shadowing.
  • Fundraising Support: Assist the district's Educational Foundation in identifying potential donors and managing alumni-led scholarship funds
  • Archive Preservation: Collaborate with the school library or local historical societies to preserve school memorabilia and digitize yearbooks/records.
     


Physical Demands: 
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, and reach. The employee is occasionally required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, push, pull, and lift. Repetitive motions are required, especially for keyboarding, which involves substantial movements of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers. The employee must lift and/or move up to 10 pounds of force frequently. Specific vision abilities required for this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment: 
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly subject to inside environmental conditions and is subject to noise associated with both office and educational environments.
