Job Overview
This position is responsible for performing instructional, inspection and investigative duties in support of County workplace accident prevention and safety education programs.
Salary
Maximum: $ 36,732.80- $47,752.64

Duties and Responsibilities

- Develops and presents safety training programs, courses, classes and associated materials.
- Inspects work areas for compliance with health and safety regulations and prepares recommendations to alleviate hazards or discrepancies.
- Develops and implements effective accident control programs.
- Promotes the establishment of safety and health programs through department directors and managers.
- Investigates accidents to determine cause and recommends corrective and preventive actions.
- Writes reports of inspections and investigations.
- Performs other related duties as required.

Physical Requirements
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk, stand, sit and talk or hear.
- Occasionally required to use hands to handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms.
- The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
Work Category
- Light work - Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg control requires exertion of forces greater than that of sedentary work and if the worker sits most of the time, the job is considered light work.
Minimum Qualifications Required
- Graduation from high school or possession of a GED certificate; AND
- Two (2) years of experience in workplace safety training, accident prevention, or accident investigation; OR
- An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that would reasonably be expected to provide the job-related competencies noted above; AND
- Possession of a valid Florida Driver's License.
Emergency Management Responsibilities
In the event of an emergency or disaster, an employee may be required to respond promptly to duties and responsibilities as assigned by the employee’s department, the County’s Office of Emergency Management, or County Administration. Such assignments may be for before, during or after the emergency/disaster.
