As a Paramedic in the Emergency Department, you will provide immediate medical treatment to patients presenting with various critical injuries, illnesses and concerns. In this role, fast thinking and processing are essential, as every second counts in an emergency. A caregiver in this position works varying days from 11:00AM – 11:30PM.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Provide immediate medical treatment to injured or ill patients on-site and/or during transport to hospital
Maintain equipment.
Assess nature and extent of illness/injury and patient history from available sources.
Determine appropriate independent or collaborative response.
Administer appropriate emergency medical care, including life support procedures, decontamination protocols, obtaining EKG readings and vital statistics monitoring.
Perform fluid/drug administration as needed.
Communicate with medical personnel at hospital, report/record observations and follow directives until report and hand-off at hospital if on the Transport Team.
