Location
NHQPurpose
- The paralegal will support attorneys in the areas of class actions, intellectual property, government investigations, product liability, and general commercial litigation nationwide, with a heavy focus on discovery.
- This individual will assist attorneys in all phases of case development, including document collection, review, and preparation for production, deposition preparation, and document organization.
Major Responsibilities
- Prepare requests for documents and information, collect, review, and prepare documents for production in litigated matters.
- Collaborate with other business units and third-party vendors to collect documents and information for production in discovery.
- Assist in the preparation of detailed draft responses to discovery requests including interrogatories, requests for production of documents and requests for admissions.
- Communicate and work effectively with both in-house and outside counsel, other business units, and third-party vendors.
- Maintain litigation files in the Document Management System.
- Develop and maintain knowledge of structured databases and document review platforms.
- Ensure compliance with Records Management Program policies.
- Conduct legal and investigative research as required.
- Maintain and update discovery logs.

- Implement and maintain litigation holds.
- Assist with defensible electronic discovery collections and document review.
- Collaborate with Records Management program and eDiscovery requirements to ensure compliance with federal and state laws and regulations.
- Conduct legal research as needed.
- Assist in the management of vendors in conjunction with Purchasing Department.
- Other duties as assigned.
Authority
- Support various HMA departments by obtaining feedback and suggestions for program improvements, and considering what changes are feasible and appropriate.
- Assist in the management of vendors in conjunction with Purchasing, including outside law firms (define scope and ensure deliver of goods/services, monitor and drive performance, work to raise level of program effectiveness).
- This is a support position, focused on delivering day to day tasks and analyses with a degree of autonomy while receiving general instructions and supervision.
- Exercise of discretion and independent judgment directly related to significant management and/or general business operations is not required.
Education
~ Must be a high school graduate~ Bachelor’s degree preferredRelated Experience
- Four or more years of in-house or law firm experience
- Litigation paralegal experience directly related to the automotive industry or complex commercial litigation.
Skills/Knowledge
- Experience in MS Office 365 with emphasis in Windows, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Knowledge of legal terminology and procedures.
- Superior organizational skills.
- Strong written, oral, and interpersonal skills.
