Paralegal

Womble Bond Dickinson (US) LLP is currently seeking a talented Paralegal to join the Firm’s Private Wealth team in its Charleston, SC office. The position requires an understanding of and breadth of experience in the field of estate planning and estate and trust administration as well as experience drafting estate planning documents and probate court forms, including accountings.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

• Assist attorneys with the drafting and preparation of estate planning documents, deeds, asset transfer documents, and estate and trust administration forms
• Communicate with clients, financial advisors, CPAs, other wealth professionals, and probate court clerks
• Organize and analyze asset information
• Prepare estate and trust accountings
• Prepare federal estate tax returns and gift tax returns
• Read and interpret wills and trust agreements
• Ensure proper indexing and filing of original documents
• Prepare and file documents with probate court across all SC and GA counties
• Organize and maintain client files ensuring they are current and easily accessible
• Notarize documents
• Assist with special projects as needed

 

REQUIREMENTS: 

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in estate planning and administration
• Minimum 10 years of Paralegal experience in estate planning and administration, preferred large-sized law firm or trust and estates boutique firm 
• Paralegal certification is highly desirable
• Strong knowledge of estate planning and probate process and rules
• Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite and legal research databases
• Effective written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects with high attention to detail and deadlines
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
• A compassionate and client-focused approach to handling sensitive matters
