Orthopedic Trauma Program Coordinator

 

General Description of the Job Class:

The Orthopedic Trauma Program Coordinator plays a critical leadership role within a multidisciplinary team committed to advancing trauma care for vulnerable populations, including victims of gun violence. This role is designed for a dynamic professional capable of driving independent initiatives, forging strategic partnerships, and influencing trauma care strategies across the Duke University Health System (DUHS) and the wider community.

The Orthopedic Trauma Program Coordinator will have the autonomy to design, implement, and evaluate innovative programs aimed at improving health equity and reducing disparities in trauma care. This position will also serve as a key liaison between DUHS and community stakeholders, fostering a cohesive network that enhances patient outcomes and community resilience.

 

This is a 1 year position, renewable based on grant funding.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Program Development:

• Develop and lead new initiatives to address trauma-related health disparities, leveraging creativity and evidence-based strategies.
• Oversee the full lifecycle of programming, including concept design, resource allocation, execution, and performance assessment.
• Serve as a thought leader, identifying opportunities for program expansion and implementing best practices in trauma care.

Autonomous Community Engagement:

• Independently conceptualize and execute community engagement strategies, including outreach campaigns, educational workshops, and public forums.
• Empower communities by promoting awareness of trauma-related health issues and mobilizing local support for impactful interventions.

Partnership and Resource Cultivation:

• Build and maintain strong relationships with a broad spectrum of stakeholders, including city officials, non-profit organizations, healthcare entities, and local businesses.
• Actively seek sponsorship opportunities and secure funding from community partners to sustain and grow programming.

Cross-Disciplinary Collaboration:

• Work closely with Orthopedic Trauma Surgeons Dr. Malcolm DeBaun and Dr. Christian Pean to align community initiatives with clinical objectives.
• Facilitate seamless collaboration between hospital departments and external partners to create integrated, patient-centered solutions.

Data-Driven Decision Making:

• Design and oversee the collection of program data, ensuring accuracy and relevance for evaluating impact.
• Utilize data analysis to identify gaps, inform program adjustments, and share actionable insights with stakeholders.

Leadership in Public Advocacy:

• Act as the primary public representative for trauma-related programming, delivering compelling presentations and fostering dialogue about health equity.
• Influence local health policy discussions by presenting program outcomes and advocating for systemic changes to address trauma care disparities.
