Overview
The Operations Manager will manage, supervise, and execute all event setups/changeovers, coordinate the maintenance and operations of facilities, equipment, and grounds, including parking garage operations. Provide highly responsible staff assistance and leadership to part time operations and housekeeping employeesThey will assist and coordinate activities, maintenance and staffing responsibilities with the operations team for all events at the convention center.
This role will pay a salary of $40,000 to $45,000.

About the Venue
The Terre Haute Convention Center opened in the spring of 2022. It offers more than 12,000 sq. ft. of flexible ballroom space with the ability to seat up to 1000 attendees for a large general session or 700 for a formal dinner. With the flexibility of the space, planners have the ability to host a full conference with meals and breakout sessions. The convention center will have on-site catering, audio-visual services, professional event staff and event planning, and first-class service. Attendees from the region and afar will enjoy the convenience of the connected hotels and parking garages, making location and ease for guests more than ideal for conventions.
Responsibilities
- Develop, manage, and oversee the Operations Department's budget, ensuring efficient allocation of funds for staffing, equipment, materials, and supplies; monitor expenditures and adjust as necessary.
- Lead and coordinate facility operations including room/building conversions, housekeeping, audio/visual support, staging, and equipment management.
- Hire, train, and evaluate staff; address performance issues and oversee professional development.
- Plan and oversee facility operations, project assignments, and problem resolution to ensure efficient workflow and high-quality outcomes.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of maintenance requirements, safety regulations, and federal, state, and local guidelines affecting facility operations.
- Develop strategies for long-term maintenance improvements and manage relationships with contractors for maintenance and event preparations.
- Ensure the scheduling of preventative maintenance for all operational equipment and maintain essential systems (fire alarm, lighting control, building maintenance databases).
- Keep accurate records of operations, including inventory, maintenance activities, and safety protocols.
- Perform additional duties as required, including event preparation and interfacing with union representatives.
- Oversee and maintain landscaping for the convention center and the parking garage.
- Ability to work cohesively with all the departmental staff throughout the convention center.

- Requires five years of managerial experience in facility operations, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be self-motivated with strong organizational skills and available to work evenings, weekends, and select holidays.
Qualifications
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and related applications is essential.
- Proficiency in set-up and running audio mixer, able to run and manage multiple audio sources, run and manage a switcher, and A/V troubleshooting with possible connectivity issues.
